3 Ways to Save on Toner Costs

We can all admit that toner's not cheap. And despite how much we want to live in a paperless world, there's still a huge expectation to provided printed documentation in many areas of our lives. However, there are some helpful little tricks to save your ink, and therefore save money. Its a recession after all, save a little where you can.

Toner-Saving Tips

1. Leave your default printing setting on black & white. Only use color if its important to do so.

2. Set your printing quality to low. Just like the color, use high quality only when necessary.

3. Who needs warnings? If your computer warns you that your ink is low, ignore it. Keep printing until you can visually see the difference. Then change your cartridge.

Those three tips not enough? I have a couple of bonus suggestions. Ecofont is free service that makes your fonts "lighter". Each letter has tiny holes in it that you can't see. However, it uses twenty percent less toner.

Another free service to try is GreenPrint. This program, for Macs and PCs, will tell you if you are wasting paper (therefore, ink) on a print job. This software makes it very easy to print just the things you need.

If you are green inclined, saving on toner can easily transfer into saving paper and therefore the environment, which continues to be a hot selling point. The best part being, the less you spend on either of these resources the more it saves your bottom line. So remember, check your printer, check your settings and try some of the new products out there to help save you from your office supplies bill.
