You've got a website, its out there with all your information but maybe you've decided to take a more interactive approach. You've taken the plunge, you set up a blog. So now, you have a blog but you're not quite sure what to write about or go about writing it down. Here are some basic tips to get you started.

1. Schedule: Set up specific times to write and decide how many posts you plan to do a week. Then stick to your plan. Consistency is one of the greatest teachers. Don't worry if its not five days a week, start small and learn.

2. Just Write: There's lots of advice out there about blogging. Sometimes it says "write what you know". Though in truthfulness I love writing about what I don't know, then I can teach someone else new things while I learn them, too. It really doesn't matter what topics you pick, as long as they remain consistent. Also, don't worry about the length of an article, as long as you update regularly, a single paragraph can be great.

3. Have a Plan: Who are you writing for? What's the purpose of the blog? Get these things out on paper. Know your audience. Know what you want to get back (more clients? regular contact with customers? brand recognition?) from writing. Then make those things happen!

4. Connect with your audience: This tip is two fold. First connect offline. If you know your market, talk to them. What do they want to read? What kind of information are they looking for from you? Secondly, when you do get readers or commenters on your blog, talk to them. Look at the links they leave. Start relationships with them.
