Moving your bookmarks

We all have important and favorite websites saved on our browsers. But due to the speed of technology, we often need to update our computers and therefore move the bookmarks somewhere new. A few years ago you'd just have to start over.

Thankfully, that is no longer the case, there are a number of ways to move your books makes without hassle.

Add-ons: Lots of browsers (particularly Firefox) offer add-ons that allow you to keep your bookmarks accessible from anywhere online. My favorite one from Firefox is XMarks. (It is also available for Chrome and Internet Explorer.) This add-on automatically updates every time you save a new bookmark. You access it through your email and just download your bookmarks by logging in with your new browser. But certainly find one that works for you, just search the Firefox add-ons or google one for your particular browser.

Delicious: Delicious (previously del.icio.us) is a "social" bookmarking site. You can download delicious add-ons to your browser as well and not only save your bookmarks but share them as well. Delicious allows you to code your bookmarks by keywords and categories too.

There are some less classy and easy to use site out there as well, such as ikeepbookmarks.com and backflip.com but the great thing about the above options is they have automatic features so they work quietly in the background.

Both of these options are also good if you want to change your default browser. (For example if you make the right switch from Internet Explorer to Firefox!)

Do you have any other helpful tips on saving your bookmarks? What add-on do you like best?
