My Christmas Wish Granted (Part 1)

I'm splitting this post into two parts, this one has the pros of my new tech gadget, and part two has the cons.


So you may have read my post about my wishes for what Santa might bring me. And little elves must have been listening because this year under the tree I found what I hoped for most: The Amazon Kindle. The pictures is of my actual new Kindle right after I opened and turned it on.

I've talked about what the Kindle can do for you as a business tool in other posts but now that I have one and have been playing with it for a while, I can share some new insight and pluses.

Unexpected Pros:

• The battery life seems to last forever. I have yet to run it down to empty. The reason the battery life lasts so long is because of the unique ink used on the screen. If you aren't changing the page it doesn't use any charge.

• The wifi is great. I've tried to log-on to Amazon store from multiple locations that often give me spotty reception and I've never once had a problem.

• Text-to-Speech rocks. I can turn the Kindle on in the car like a book on tape and listen while I drive or do things around the house. It's not a feature I expected but one I am using surprisingly often.

• Some free selection: I was shocked at how many free classics exist for the Kindle.

• Room for MP3s. Got stuff you do want to listen to on the Kindle? Upload it! (Great for downloaded podcasts.)
