My Christmas Wish Granted (Part 2)
Filed in archive Technology on January 6, 2010

This is the second part containing the cons of my new techie toy. For the pros, see part one.
Cons:
• You need to buy a case. There are just too many ways to ruin this lovely, sleek piece of technology.
• No built-in light. I understand why the screen isn't back-lit, it reduces eye strain, but I wish there was a little attachable light of some kind so I could read at night.
• It failed the plane test. I took the Kindle with me on a plane trip but it counts as an electronic and so I could not read it during take-off.
• I'm disappointed in the pdf reader feature. You have to pay to transfer any pdf file to your Kindle.
So my added positive insight for the day: THE KINDLE IS SO EASY TO TAKE WITH YOU. If you are at all like me where you hear about a book you want to buy and then never go online to order it or make it to a book store… this is the solution for you! So many new books come out in my industry all the time that I want to read. I'm not giving up on "real" books but the kind of books (I love buying leather bound classics) that I want to read on the run that keep me in touch with technology are the best bet on the Kindle.
Have you found any negatives about the Kindle?
