What present will your company give for Christmas?

Last post we discussed what you want for Christmas. Now let's talk about what kind of Christmas present you plan to give your clients. It's the end of the year and it's time to consider how we can show our gratitude to the people have bought our products and services this year.

Here are a few ideas on ways you can show your appreciation:

1. Free samples: Give your previous clients samples of your work, free consultations or any kind of taste of what you do.

2. Discounts: Discounts are always an option. Offering a lower price can be a great way to get repeat business. This is an old standard but one of my least favorite.

3. Events: You can show appreciation through a party or event that you throw for your customers. There are plenty of Christmas parties this time of year so be sure to be creative. Paying for food or drinks will bring a higher turn-out.

4. Something unique to you: Sending a present at Christmas time will always please your client but what you really want is something unique so that you'll stand out in their memory. I've seen people offer their clients an opportunity to meet a celebrity they knew, offer private training sessions for companies, giving software… do something that relates to your company that will make people think of you for years. Brainstorm something creative!

There's always the discussion about how you should promote your business when you give client gifts. This is somewhat out-dated to me. It's more important to give clients something they actually want. If you can promote your company at the same time, that's awesome. But if you offer a service it may be harder to offer something useful. This is the time to try to find a complimentary service and see if you can barter advertising or if they'd promote you as well.

Don't forget, one of the best gifts that you can give is a smile and a thankful attitude. Keep in the season and go the extra mile for your customers.
