Office Genuine Advantage dies quietly

If ever you have found yourself terminally annoyed by the invasive and poorly implemented Office Genuine Advantage software validation feature incorporated by Microsoft into its flagship office productivity suite, you have reason to celebrate today as Redmond has quietly and without fanfare done away with OGA.

Many of the systems that were originally incorporated into Office Genuine Advantage have been migrated elsewhere in the validation process for the products, so it is not as if you are entirely escaping scrutiny. However, the sometimes glitchy and decidedly un-advantageous checks that previously accompanied the installation of add-ons or templates for the products are gone for good… one less obstacle in your day to actually getting things done. Who knows? Microsoft software may actually be on its way back to being a productivity multiplier once again!
